Excited to announce my first podcast!
I’m inspired by self-help and personal development. I also love listening to spoken word and speeches from historical figures. I was listening to one of Malcolm X’s speeches and the idea for this podcast came to mind. Hope you like it, and I look forward to making another one.

This is an amazing video of 12-year-old Neveah Moshe, who lives in the South Bronx and is incredibly fascinated with reading. It’s very inspiring to see how enthusiastic she is about education and going to college.
I haven’t produced any new work due to holiday travel and apartment hunting (in NYC nonetheless….yikes!). Even so, I still feel compelled to post something of substance.
I’m a huge fan of Henry Rollins. I grew up listening to punk, and Black Flag was one of my favorite bands. Unlike most punk artists which disappear into obscurity after their 15 minutes of fame, Mr. Rollins has consistently remained in the limelight through published literature and spoken word.
This is a video in which Rollins’ addresses America’s disadvantaged youth who, unlike privileged others, have had to struggle to achieve their dreams. It’s quiet inspirational. And although it’s directed towards a younger generation, it still contains various nuggets of wisdom about following one’s dream and passion, which applies to all ages. My favorite quote:
“If you have an idea of what you want to do in your future, you must go at it with almost monastic obsession…”
Brilliant!

Although I’m nowhere near as technically skilled at painting as Aaron Smith is, I can definitely relate to the thought process behind re-purposing artifacts to create new imagery in one’s work.
The High Line in NYC is another great example of this idea:
Sometimes music has an eerie way of making you feel. This is one of those examples for me.
As a teenager I grew up doing graffiti, and even though I don’t actively pursue this hobby anymore I will always have a special place in my heart for low-brow/street art/graffiti. It’s amazing how many individuals who belong to this subculture are so talented given the short relative existence of this art form. I believe that the lack of historical circumspection, relative to other forms of art, is a main driver of this young self-expressionist movement.
